listening to:

Ashra
Roedelius
Nuno Canavarro

toured a while back with Jesy Tiny Viper's and these to foto's are from that , we did a tv recording in Park City Utah and they had to put something behind me while I played so I asked for a cemetary shot and this is what i got. . . the other is my fave photo of Jesy and Chris somewhere in Texas after leaving Austin, two of my favorite people of all time !!!

I am in Portland Maine kicking it with Dylan and getting rdy to head out for some NE shows , been making beats for an unknown project that you will here about someday soon involving myself , Danny Grody, and Jefre Cantu , ahhh yes, we are doing it again and it has been so inspiring , also a while back I made a collaboration w/ Jefre that I think will see the light of day soon in the form of a cassette on Root Strata under Issidore Ducasse, I expect to be making the next Issidore Ducasse recordings soon, as well as working on a new Lazarus record.
The Drift is doing well and we have been writing solidly for about a year now so I expect something will be on the way soon

some things

the music is done for the St. Ives LP and I have shipped it off to the folks at Secretly Canadian. I ended up doing the whole thing on my own for several reasons, the primary one being the ammount of time I was spending down in southern California with my family. My brother who is a photographer allowed me to use his studio space unconditionally which allowed for much experimentation and fun. It will be called ' trickster ' and SC will be releasing info at some point for a Feb. 3 /09 release. The covers(300) will be done by loving hands. The hands belonging to Myself, Kelly, Kathryn, jewelry making genius Claire Hummel (http://www.myspace.com/magnetichoney) ,and the Hawk Medicine artist Ryan Coffey (tinylittletown.blogspot.com).

dust

I went to a show at Amnesia friday night to see Shayde Sartin's new band ' the Fresh and Onlys ' ( Shayde played bass on the 'Hawk Medicine' record ) the F and O's were damn good, lots of energy, great movement and dynamics. I really enjoyed Wymond ,Tim , and Shayde's new creation.
Amnesia used to be the Chameleon where I have seen some classic shows over the years. Most memorable perhaps a Track Star show in which Wyatt in his animated, spasmatic guitar playing way fell off the stage mid song and broke his arm.

We are paying at Cafe Du Nord on Monday night I am looking forward to it.

Fresh and Onlys can be found here: http://www.myspace.com/thefreshonlys

Nanao Sakaki

This morning sitting here thinking of my love for Nanao. ' Break the mirror ' one of my favorite books.

here is what others had to say:

He looks and smells of the desert, skin rubbed with sage, hair washed in spring water and brushed into a pony tail, rucksack perfumed by the sweet incense of pinon coals. -John Brandi

On the crowded sidewalk outside Shinjuku's Fugetsudo coffeehouse I met Nanao Sakaki, the Japanese wandering poet, and soon his informal Bum Academy. Nanao had and still has a remarkable social mobility. Homeless people under bridges would offer tea and next we were sitting in some hidden luxury mansion. -Franco Beltrametti

From childhood I had some dream of mountain-walking. My father was a good walker. He had some dream to be a wandering poet like Basho or Ryokan or something like that but he never realized it. -Nanao, transcribed by Jirka Wein

Later he visited me when I had my own house in Bolinas. Looking at a bright pink passion flower, with purple, lime green and gold center, he said, That's not a real flower, is it? -Joanne Kyger

Nanao is himself childlike in his appreciation for simple, pure things: Strange bugs. Tops made from cardboard. The color of the moon. -Maggie Tai Sakaki Tucker

—he's an independent desert rat who has spent the last weeks in New Mexico & Arizona—in deserts where he is quite familiar and he'll be headed in a few days up north through Canada and Alaska and then who knows where?—a wondering classical Zen-like ah-hm i d i o t ! -Allen Ginsberg
